THE CUB PACK

A Cub Scout Pack has members aged 8-101/2 years old. Cub Scouts meet together as a Pack and work within a variety of small groups called ‘Sixes’. A team of adults will run the Cub Scout Pack, led by an Akela, assisted by uniformed leaders others maybe sectional assistants, helpers or parents.

Rolleston Scout Group has 2 Cub Packs, both from 18.30 – 20.00 on a Monday and a Thursday.

Cubs take part in a wide range of activities that are designed to be interesting and to challenge them. At the same time they have fun, adventure and make friends along the way. They do this through taking part in a programme of activities provided by the Leadership team such as: camping, playing games, trying new things and exploring the outdoors.

Cub Scouts work towards awards and badges. The Cub Scout Membership Award is presented to new Cub Scouts once they have learnt about the traditions and history of Scouting and about being a Cub Scout today.

Activity badges are specialist interest badges that can further develop a Cub Scout’s interest. They can also form the basis for special events and some are geared at the whole pack working together.

Camps and Pack holidays are the most memorable events during the year. They are the chance to carry out activities that are not possible at the regular weekly meeting.

The Cub Scout Leader, who has overall responsibility for the Pack, will lead the Leadership Team.

It is however, very much a team effort with everyone having something to offer.

Rolleston Scout Group Behaviour Policy

PLEASE NOTE Rolleston Scout Group will not tolerate persistent bad behaviour or bullying in any form. It is a fundamental part of the Association that we protect children in our care from physical, emotional and sexual harm and this is what we endeavour to achieve.

We have a waiting list in all Sections with children waiting to join, so neither I nor any of my Leaders will have children in the Group that are disruptive.

The Group has a ‘three strike’ rule. In any instance of bad behaviour or bullying the following procedure applies:-

  1. Verbal warning to child (in front of another Leader) and a meeting with the Section Leader and parents to discuss the matter.

 2.   Written warning together with a meeting between the Group Scout Leader, Section Leader and parents followed by a three week ban on attending meetings, activities and camps that might be inside that three week period. Refunds will not be given for events missed due to exclusion.

3.   If lack of compliance persists, your child will be excluded from the Group by Group Scout Leader.

If the behaviour is deemed to be of a praticularly serious nature, this includes bullying, stages 1 and 2 of the behaviour procedure will not be applied. In such circumstances a child will be excluded from the Group without notice. This will only be done by the Group Scout Leader.
